Borobudur Indonesian Cuisine (San Francisco)
After trying to located Mission Chinese on my first evening in San Fran and finding out that they are closed on Wednesdays (who closes on Wednesday’s?) even though they gave us a reservation for Wednesday,  we needed to find a place to have dinner and so we ended up going to Borobudur Restaurant.  My friend had seen the restaurant featured on a local television show which was actually displayed in their window.  Would it live up to its new found TV reputation of fresh, tasty, and delicious?

Borobudur was packed with people with only one waitress, which initially scared us because we were afraid of slow service, but we decided to be a bit patient and we were glad we did.   We reviewed the menu and decided to order the Rijsttafel, which is a complete Indonesian Rice Table Dinner, $27.50 per person.  It literally consisted of over 8 marvelous and tasty dishes! It was a never ending Indonesian feast filled with rice, shrimp, tofu, salad, soup, beef, pork and it literally kept on coming! I would go back in a heartbeat!

My most memorable dish was the Soto Ayam soup.  I had never had anything that compared to this dish as the flavors were layered and complex.  The addition of the hard boiled egg added a richness that complimented the sweet lemon grass broth which surely would put a smile on anyone's face.

This is what the dinner consisted of:
